Lessons From Football
Talking trash
It blows my mind how mean 6 and 7 year old’s can be! Before our last football game, as the two teams mingled on the sideline, it was interesting to hear some of the trash talk. Now, because this type of behavior is always completely unacceptable and unsportsmanlike, we immediately brought it to a halt (at least for our team). The other team was relentless!
Nevertheless, after our fourth touchdown and successful point after, it was interesting to see how the trash talk had subsided. By the second half, our defense was playing 10 yards back and I was just praying that this poor team would get a first down! I felt so badly for them.
Why do the poorest examples often speak the loudest? I am always amazed to see how individuals who are truly confident in their abilities and usefulness often find a way to just keep their mouth silent and turn the other cheek. They seemingly have nothing negative to say; always knowing and demonstrating that actions speak louder than words.
