Lessons From Football

Passing the ball

I have the incredible privilege to serve as one of the coaches on my boys flag football team this fall.  Now for those of you who have never watched K – 1st graders play organized football, let me assure you it is a blast to “watch”!  However, coaching is sometimes a different story.

As in any aspect of life, managing others can often be more of a challenge than just performing the task yourself.  Therein lies the true test:  are we able to pass along what we have learned to those younger than ourselves?  If we fail this test, not only will the next generation suffer, but all of our wisdom and experience will die with us.  Perhaps this is the most important thing that God has given us to do – to pass His ball successfully to the next generation so that they can run with it!

These little guys are teaching me so many life lessons through the simple game of football.  I can’t wait to share them with all of you.

    Hey Rich,

Thanks for these lessons from football. They are encouraging and challenging… both in themselves through the messages you see and share as well as in the example to see life through what God wants to teach us.

Thanks again from someone way behind on his blog reading!!
